INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS & FOR THE REST OF US...

Educational School Assembly Programs, Core Curriculum and Standards-Based Presentations. We will motivate and challenge your students to look at weather in new and exciting ways. Video and recordings (including phone images) are not allowed in any of the seminars without express written permission.

  • Seminars developed specifically for elementary, junior and high schools, colleges, and universities are designed to be informative and peek the interest of students in the science of meteorology. These seminars can be held in the classroom for an individual class or in the auditorium for a larger audience. Topics (depending on age groups) range from cloud identification to tornado's, thunderstorms, lightning or even a brief glimpse on todays global warming issues with time for Q & A. There are several different seminar programs developed for schools depending on grade level including K-2, 3-6, 7-8, and 9-12. Normally, school seminars last 45 minutes to meet the school classroom time frame while the auditorium program lasts from 45 to 90 minutes.
  • A seminar on todays hot topic "Global Warming." Are we really in Global Warming? Who says so? Is there another side to the story? Global cooling since 1998? How about another ice age in the making? Believe it or not, some predominate scientists think a new ice age has already started and have some pretty alarming evidence to back up their proposals! We put the "hype" into perspective for students and teachers alike.
  • For the Storm Chaser, Storm Spotter and the General Public: This seminar dives deeply into visual identification of weather and storms as we learn to "read" the winds through the clouds. Reading winds through the clouds aids us in maneuvering in and around storms and identifying what the weather is doing at a given moment in time. The advantage of this seminar is the knowledge gained will help guide you to where you want to be for observing storms or picture taking of specific weather events. Your instructor has 40 years of storm and weather identification experience and learned to chase and photograph storms with nothing more than visual identification. In chasing weather for photography, not all good photographs come from storms, so we will dive into a block of Weather Theme Landscape Photography. Time from typically 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Presentation is conducted in Power Point.
  • Weather Safety Seminar: This seminar is designed for Industry and Private Enterprise. Topics include severe storms and its offspring, the tornado, straight line winds, hail, and lightning. Each seminar lasts about 1 hour to reduce impact company time and employees.
