Artist Statement

Bruce Burkman is a Professional Senior Forensic Meteorologist (Ret.) and Master Weather Theme Nature Photographer with 37 years of experience with the National Weather Service. He held such positions as Surface Synoptic Expert (Washington, DC), Meteorologist-in-Charge, and Warning Coordination Meteorologist. He has conducted over 1200 Seminars in the past 16 years.

Bruce holds a B.S. in Atmospheric Science from Creighton University including graduate work in Atmospheric Science and a Masters Certificate in Nature Photography from the New York Photography Institute in NY. He is a member of NANPA (North American Nature Photography Association) and is considered an International class photographer publishing his Photographic Art Work with NANPA and Belfort Instruments to name a few and is most recently (2009) published in "The Weather Book," by Jack Williams.

His photographic work is currently on Display at "Gallery On The Square" in Alpine, TX and has been shown at Catch Light Gallery, Alpine, TX; StormExtremes Gallery, Fort Davis, TX; and Galleries in Shreveport, LA, east Texas and Washington state. Bruce currently owns StormExtremes which is dedicated to a unique and original style of earrings.

Bruce is a dynamic public speaker adept at conveying the joy and love he feels for the weather. His willingness to share information with others makes him an inspirational speaker. Over 13 thousand enthusiasts have attended his programs over the years.
